Westside Medical Centre is a comprehensive general practice clinic owned and operated by Dr Suzanne Lyon and Dr David Chessor.
Suzanne and David became sole owners in 2024 after sharing ownership with Associate Professor Debbie Kors between 2019-2024, who was the founding owner of Westside in 2010. Suzanne and David continue to operate the practice in the way that patients have grown accustomed to since 2010. Our vision is to operate a medical practice which provides high quality and personalized care within a warm and friendly environment.
The practice has grown significantly since its early days and is now home to an impressive team of dedicated nurses and receptionists who support our specialist GPs in their practice. We are also proud to have a strong focus on training future health professionals. We have employed many GP registrars, and hosted medical, nursing and paramedic students over the years, many of whom have stayed to work in the area on the completion of their studies, including our owners Dr Lyon and Dr Chessor!

My doctor, Laura, is so patient, understanding and well versed in current techniques and trends. She is punctual and kind. Located in the building is also a lab for your blood work. You could not go wrong choosing this clinic for all your medical advice and needs.
Westside medical centre is always very clean and well maintained. The staff are all friendly and professional. They have a good-sized nursing and medical staff who have different focus area's which allows the public to choose a practitioner that meets their needs. I see an exceptional Dr who is incredibly knowledgeable, competent and caring as my main GP. I am also able to see another Dr who visits Westside for my skin checks, who is also lovely and makes me feel very comfortable during exams. The practice has a Laverty pathology on the premises, which is very helpful. I usually have the same collector when I have bloods done and she is very calming and skilled.
I am very happy with being under the care of Dr David Chessor at Westside Medical Centre. With Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer challenging my life; I have found Dr Chessor to be compassionate man and a skilled GP. His approach about my cancer journey, is with a sense of light heartedness; with little responses like, "well that hasn't been your best day this week, has it?". Yet he combines that refreshing way of acknowledging that I am doing it tough, with a deep understanding of how I need his help and knowledge to keep updated plans in place for pain relief and other issues with a cancer diagnosis. The practice has a modern approach to patient care and provides continuous Care Plans to capture the "big" picture of my health and, allow time for deeper discussions for my health care choices. The ladies at reception are extremely polite and helpful. If there are issues like having trouble booking an appointment on Hot Doc, the Office Manager is always willing to step up and help sort out your computer access to the practice. Westside Medical Centre works hard to wrap "patient love" into their "patient care", even though we, "the broken people" are sometimes hard to love. I cannot speak highly enough of this medical practice. From the moment you walk in, the reception staff are welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring. The nurses are attentive, compassionate, and take the time to make you feel comfortable, and the doctors provide exceptional care with thorough, thoughtful, and patient-centred attention. Every interaction reflects a commitment to the highest standard of care. I consistently feel listened to, respected, and well looked after. An outstanding practice that truly puts patients first.
As always, the receptionists and doctors are always polite, courteous, friendly and willing to hep me with any questions or concerns that I may have about my health problems , particularly with my Parkinsons Disease. I would recommend this practice to anyone. Thank you one and all for your help, support and assistance over the last ten years. I very much appreciate it.

Westside medical group have been the medical practice that have taken care of me for past 10years. This visit was for my 6 monthly injection of Proplia for my bones. The nurse looked after the injection followed by my doctor, Dr Susan Lyon checking on me before I left. As always service was quick & handled in a very professional manner.
Dr Mark Stewart is professional and thorough. He has been our family GP for almost 20 years. The nurses, reception and other doctors are all friendly and professional
First visit with my new doctor. It was refreshing to have her able to continue my healthcare, following on from the previous medic, knowing that all my records are always updated.

After years of being misdiagnosed, shuffled around through different doctors at different suburbs in "you get whoever is able to see you' (unless you were a private patient) and the seriousness of my condition not being diagnosed properly I walked into Westside Medical centre back in 2015.
Immediately after moving to the region, we discovered Westside and that has literally changed my life. At first seeing Dr Kate Moriarty I knew I was actually finally being listen to and she put the wheels in action in regards to the proper diagnosis of my condition and what could be achieved with proper, thorough medical intervention.
Dr David took over my care from Dr Kate when she went on maternity leave and carried on with plan already in place. He has helped me manage a number of chronic conditions, diagnosing some missed by doctor back in Sydney.
For some 6 and a half years of seeing literally dozens of doctors and two so called specialists failed to find the root cause of a condition that incapacitated me and left me with severe crippling pain. It took until we moved to the region and entered the doors of Westside Medical that my partner and I felt we were finally being REALLY listened to.
Dr Dave, Kate and every doctor I've had to see have been a delight and have shown same attention of care that I can only say that we are just so very very grateful to not only the Doctors, but the nurses and the lovely 🌹 admin staff in the "engine room'.
Unfortunately I can't recommend Westside Medical Centre higher than a 5 stars on Google. However we HIGHLY recommend Westside Medical Centre Port Maquarie for any medical needs you or you're family rely on.

Finally after 10 years in Port Macquarie I have finally found an exceptional Dr.. My first consultant with Dr Kate Moriarty and I found her to be very personable with a very caring natute. I was first seen by a nurse who was absolutely brilliant and so kind. Highly recommend this practice..
