I have sent a text this morning to all patients aged 70-80 years to invite you all to book.
It is much harder to make an SMS list of other people eligible in Phase 1b (I will keep working on it!), but we also encourage all patients in Phase 1b to book for their vaccine - Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander patients over the age of 55, patients over 50 with a chronic disease, healthcare workers or emergency personnel over the age of 50.
At present, we are still not offering vaccination to patients under 50 given the government preference for Pfizer in this age group, but will continue to review this regularly.
Booking via HotDoc is very easy, and will automatically send you some consent information to complete, but if you prefer you can also call the clinic on 5519 8200.

Vaccination Update Wednesday 5th May
We're very excited to share some good news regarding Covid19 vaccinations! From the 24th of May, our allocation will be tripling from 50 per week, to 150 per week
Whilst we are keen to keep you all updated, we can't take bookings yet, so please don't swamp reception with calls!
Once we can start booking our additional clinics, we will:-
For patients between 50 and 70 years of age in Phase 2a, we will open bookings as soon as possible, but want to give those higher risk patients in Phase 1b the chance to book first.
All our GPs have been impressed on a daily basis by the patience and understanding displayed by so many people, a big thanks to all WMC patients

Vaccination update Tuesday 13th April
We were very pleased to finally be able to administer our first Covid-19 immunisations yesterday.
Unfortunately our allocation is going to be quite small for at least the first 1-2 months - the little box below is a whole fortnight's worth of supply.
As a way of trying to manage the obvious mismatch in supply and demand, to start with we are inviting all WMC patients over the age of 85 their immunisation first. Reception will be calling, but if you haven't had a call yet, please get in touch via phone! We have appointments available this week for patients over 85 and their partners.
Because of our very limited supply, we aren't opening HotDoc bookings just yet, but will once our supply increases. You will notice however that HotDoc will send you an email if you are booked for a Covid immunisation with a consent form attached - if you can complete that prior to arriving at clinic, the process will run much more smoothly!
There has been constant media coverage about the risks of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia (blood clots with low platelets) with the AstraZeneca vaccine, and we acknowledge many patients have concerns.
If you have any questions about the Covid-19 immunisation program, have a look at the links below, or book an appointment with one of our GPs to discuss.
All our GPs are confident in the safety and effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccination and are happy to provide it to WMC patients.
We really appreciate the patience that has been displayed as the rollout slowly gets going. Thanks all!
We have been seeing news reports that patients in phase 1b can now book in with their GP for their COVID-19 vaccinations.
This is simply not the case!
While some clinics may have vaccinations arrive from next week, this is less than a quarter of all clinics. Our clinic has been told by the federal government we are not receiving stock until mid April and we can't start booking clinics until then.
We want to be as transparent as possible about what is happening on the ground as media reports do not always line up with reality!
Thanks for your understanding and patience, we can't wait to get our shots either!
COVID-19 Immunisation News 7/3/21
We have been receiving lots of questions from our patients over the last few weeks wondering when COVID-19 vaccinations will be available!
So we wanted to update everyone on the information we have so far...
1. Westside is an approved COVID-19 vaccination clinic and we will be participating in the immunisation rollout.
2. We are expecting our initial supplies of COVID-19 vaccine in late April. Initially numbers will be extremely limited. However, we are hopeful this will steadily increase over the following weeks so that we can add additional clinics to provide them to more patients.
3. We CANNOT currently take bookings for COVID-19 vaccination clinics as the quantity/date of arrival of the vaccine may change. Don't panic though, we will update everyone once our COVID-19 vaccination clinics commence.
4. Flu shots are expected to arrive in late March. These need to be separated from the COVID-19 vaccine by at least 2 weeks. Given our timeline, we are encouraging our patients to have their influenza immunisation first, while awaiting the COVID-19 vaccine.
We share in the excitement that effective and safe vaccines are available for COVID-19! However, this massive vaccination effort will take time to complete. Rest assured, at Westside we are committed to providing the vaccinations in a safe and swift manner to our patients as soon as they are available.
